Mariana González, daughter of opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia, She demanded the release of her husband, Rafael Tudares, who turned 46 years old this Monday and 349 days since he was detained in Caracas.
“How do you celebrate a birthday in these unjust and cruel conditions? How do you explain to your children that their father’s birthday is in prison, without knowing where he is, without being able to see him, without being able to hug him?“, expressed Mariana González in her X account.
She reiterated that her husband is “forcedly disappeared”, as she has said during the months of Tudares’ detention, stating that she does not know with certainty his place of detention.
“We denounce the injustice, the abuse, the cruelty of taking away a man’s freedom, to a family its peace, and to children their right to grow up with their father,” said González Urrutia’s daughter.
“More than 11 months arbitrarily deprived of liberty. More than 11 months forcibly disappeared,” he added.
Earlier this month, Mariana González confirmed that her husband was sentenced to 30 years in prison after, she said, a “single and unique” trial hearing.
Tudares’ arrest occurred on January 7, while he was taking his children to school. Coinciding with the arrest of human rights defender Carlos Correa – later released – and former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez.
