Ipsos: 48% do not know who to vote for or plan to taint their vote

There are less than four months until the presidential elections, but 48% of Peruvian citizens do not know who they will vote for or plan to vote blank or invalid, according to figures from the Ipsos survey for América TV that was broadcast last night by Cuarto Poder.

In detail, 28% plan to vote blank, flawed or for none of the candidates for Pizarro’s seat, while 20% do not specify who they will vote for on April 12, 2026.

For now, the person who continues to enjoy the greatest support is the Renovación Popular candidate, Rafael López Aliaga, with 10% of voting intention. He is followed by Keiko Fujimori (7%), Mario Vizcarra (5%), Carlos Álvarez (4%), César Acuña and Alfonso López Chau with 3%; and Yonhy Lescano, Carlos Espá, José Luna Gálvez and Rafael Belaunde, all with 2%.

Compared to the Ipsos measurement for the second half of November, López Aliaga rises one percentage point, Keiko remains the same, Vizcarra drops two and Álvarez drops one.

ONE WEEK BEFORE

Why do Peruvians plan to vote blank or flawed? 33% said it is because they do not trust any of the candidates, while 26% said they are disappointed in politics in general.

Meanwhile, 25% answered that they do not know the candidates’ government proposals or plans, 15% said that they do not feel represented by any political option and 13% stated that “all politicians are equal.”

Ipsos also asked when citizens will make a “definitive decision about their vote for the presidency.” In this regard, 26% indicated that they will decide their vote “a week before the election” and 11% said that they will do so “on the same day of the election.” 36% assure that they will remain firm in voting white or flawed.

JERÍ APPROVAL

On the other hand, Ipsos also revealed that 42% approve of José Jerí’s government management and 43% disapprove.

It is necessary to remember that in October, as soon as he assumed the highest office of the country, the president obtained 45% approval. In November, 47% valued their work positively.

Regarding Peruvians’ assessment of the total reform of the INPE announced by Jerí, 47% think that it will contribute to improving the security situation in the country. 16% think that crime has improved under his administration, but 59% believe that it remains the same.
