Unpublished images, obtained by Cuarto Poder, reveal how the regional governor of Callao, Ciro Castillofled upon learning of the preliminary arrest order against him for the “Los Socios del Callao” case. Covered with a mask and in a wheelchair, he left the Stella Maris clinic in Pueblo Libre, where he had been hospitalized since December 13, and managed to avoid justice.
The agents showed up at the medical center to carry out the arrest, but Castillo had already left the place 20 minutes earlier. General Luis Lira, head of DIRCOCOR, confirmed that it was a “leak” and that the person under investigation was “safe” when he learned of the operation.
That same day at 4 in the morning a mega operation was carried out in his home in La Punta, Callao. The tax proceedings also cover another 26 properties linked to officials and contractors of the Gore del Callao.
According to the fiscal thesis, this alleged criminal organization, supposedly led by Castillo Rojo, would have manipulated contracts in the Regional Government of Callao and in the Administration Committee of the Educational Fund of Callao (Cafed) for a total of S/ 1,461,121.10.
