n a short message The former president of the Mexican Republic Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented his latest written work: Greatness, the book that he had promised since the end of his mandate. He complied in a timely manner. At the same time, a brief comment of his was equally important for referring to the current political moment. Without drama, concise in the language as it has always been, he announced what sympathizers and adversaries immediately celebrated and repudiated respectively: the social leader will return to the streets, to the demonstration or to participate in social mobilization only if democracy, the current government and the sovereignty of our country suffer violations or attacks against them, on the part of the always active internal or external political conservatism.
The reappearance of the Tabasco politician serves to further motivate a society that in the last seven years has grown politically like few Mexican generations in history.
Today in the country we are witnessing a profound process of structural changes in the direction of increasing differentiation and integration. The multiple changes that occur in various matters are configuring a model of relations within the Mexican State that, regardless of the assessment given to it, confirms a profound and complex change between government and society.
Therefore, the defense of democracy that is made is very pertinent, since it is the fundamental task to understand that its lever, the elections to choose rulers, are a primary activity that must be protected by the State. For decades, electoral processes only served to prop up corrupt and illegitimate bureaucratic careers, in addition to creating governments that wanted to impress the world with a supposed democratic model.
Unlike other years, the latest federal and local electoral processes have been an example of citizen freedom due to the simple and simple protection that the current government provides for them.
The worst mistake of the conservatives and their external allies will be to attempt any type of fraud in future elections or to illegally get involved in the candidacy construction processes that violate the secrecy and freedom in the elections.
New and modern rules are built to achieve and exercise power in a different model of country. The democratic process of representation has been so respected, that for this reason the last two national governments have counted on the free will and social and political support of millions of citizens.
The defense of the sovereignty and independence of a nation, in addition to the safeguarding and exploitation of its strategic natural resources, begins with respect for and encouragement of internal plurality. For example, in seven years the resolutions of the federal Legislative Branch have not weakened republican federalism. In fact, political reality shows us the limitations of some local governments that resist the current model.
The budgetary and administrative policy of favoring large states or politically powerful entities is no longer the norm. Currently, it is not the local economy or the demographic magnitude that determines policy and public works decisions. In all states and multiple municipalities, investments have been made to build roads, dams, housing, hydraulic works, and infrastructure of all kinds. Reviewing the destination of the federal budget, its equal meaning is verified.
Today the decisions of the Legislative Branch are marked by the legal triumphs of the majority group. That principle has not crossed the threshold of equal representation.
If the growing weakness of the political opposition groups does not stop, it will not be the responsibility of the ruling group, but simply because the enemies of the transformation are increasingly absent from the rational activity of struggle for power. They continue to collapse into a state of hopelessness that seems to please them very much. The conservative right in Mexico is experiencing a deep crisis.
The claim and political support made to Claudia Sheinbaum is the most energetic and resounding response that can be expected from a leadership that shares struggles, principles and ideals. AMLO’s message is not an abstract speech that is impossible to understand. It is an energetic defense of a country project that is leaving behind the immoralities of all past neoliberal governments in Mexico and present in the rest of the world.
