Dozens of homes, sheds and corrals, as well as hundreds of dead quails and guinea pigs, are the tragic toll left by an unusual windstorm in the San Lorenzo neighborhood of the Pucará district. The natural phenomenon – fortunately – left no deaths or injuries to regret.
“It was ringing, we thought it was rain, but it was a whirlwind. The tiles began to fall; I narrowly avoided having them fall on my head.”says Pelaya Ureta, who saw the pens where she raises sheep affected.

But it was the family of Ingrid Huamán (30) that lost practically everything: appliances, furniture and food were affected after the collapse of their kitchen ceiling. Luckily, there was no one in the little wooden house.
“I arrived and all the sheets were bent. Everything had been turned over, everything had been lifted. My groceries and clothes were completely wet.”she said through tears.

They were not the only ones affected: in the Laveriano family’s house, the guinea pig sheds ended up crushed by a small wall that fell from a neighboring house; About 80 specimens died.
The residents say that 20 years ago they did not witness a similar phenomenon, which fortunately left no victims.

The wind also blew away the roof of a quail farm. Three thousand specimens died after the incident. Emperatriz Pérez, owner of the business, estimates losses of at least 80 thousand soles.
