The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, reported that he had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, in which they reviewed the state of bilateral relations in the context of the strategic agreement that unites both countries.
During the exchange, recent events in the Caribbean were addressed, especially threats and acts of piracy attributed to the United States, including the theft of ships loaded with Venezuelan oil.
Gil highlighted that Venezuela received a full show of solidarity from the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as its offer of cooperation in all areas to confront piracy and international terrorism.
“The United States seeks to impose, through military force, a scheme of aggression that violates the United Nations Charter and international law,” denounced the chancellor.
Solidarity and strategic cooperation
The head of Venezuelan diplomacy stressed that Iran’s support strengthens the defense of national sovereignty and consolidates the strategic alliance between both countries.
“Venezuela received a full show of solidarity from the Iranian government and its offer of cooperation in all areas,” Gil reiterated, pointing out that this relationship is framed in mutual respect and the search for a multipolar international order.
Attacks in the Caribbean and reports of piracy
The foreign minister’s statements come amid a climate of tension in the Caribbean, where Venezuela has denounced the theft of vessels and the US military deployment as part of a strategy of aggression against the country.
Caracas maintains that these actions constitute acts of piracy and violations of international law, while allies such as Iran have expressed their support for the defense of Venezuelan sovereignty and the need to prioritize dialogue in international relations.
