He development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) approved two new operations in favor of the Dominican Republic that total 566 million dollars, aimed at enhancing the security water of the Greater Santo Domingo and modernize the prison system.
The initiatives respond to national priorities strategic and will improve the quality of life of millions of Dominicans.
The first operation is financing for up to 300 million dollars for the Aqueduct Project Hatillo Dam–Santo Domingowhich will allow the construction of infrastructure for the collection, conduction, purification and distribution of water drinking water from the El Hatillo reservoir towards the capital.
The project executed by the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd), expands the supply of water to the city in 5 cubic meters per second, which will increase continuity, strengthen governance, integrated management and sustainability of water resources.

Promote social reintegration
The second approved operation corresponds to Penitentiary System Reform and Modernization Programexecuted by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings with financing of 266 million dollars.
The program searches reduce recidivism and promote effective social reintegration of Persons Deprived of Liberty through the construction and adaptation of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers that are decent, safe and aimed at rehabilitation.
The investment will improve the physical, functional and programmatic conditions of the prison system Dominican and strengthen its role in social cohesion, security citizenship and labor reintegration.
