Rospigliosi demands radical measures from the Government to fight against insecurity

The president of the Congress of the Republic, Fernando Rospigliosimaintained that the murder of Councilor Elena Rojas Alcalde, last Thursday, in the town center of Sausal, Chicama district, La Libertad region, requires that the government of José Jerí adopt extraordinary measures.

“The Government is not applying radical solutions because, as we know, it is transitional. I hope that the next Government does have the capacity, the energy, the decision and the courage to apply radical solutions,” he stressed, after commenting that the crime of the municipal authority shows the extreme level to which violence has reached in our country.

“It is a terrible fact that shows how crime has become very violent, very brutal, very savage. Radical solutions are required, we cannot confront this crime with normal means. I think the Government should do what it can do, but things like massive raids are required; we must have provisional prisons to put the people who fall into them,” he noted.

In statements to journalists in the Legislative Palace, the head of Parliament also recalled that Congress has already granted powers to the Executive Branch to legislate on matters of citizen security.

“The delegated powers in matters of citizen security have already been given to the Government, and the Government has in its hands the possibility of issuing legislative decrees when it considers it convenient, within the deadline,” he indicated.

The Permanent will meet

At another time, Rospigliosi reported that next Monday, December 29, the Permanent Commission will meet in order to approve, in a second vote, some projects submitted by the Executive.

“We are going to have a session exclusively for some government projects that have already been approved in the Permanent Commission a few days ago and that must be approved before the end of the year, they are projects related to economic matters,” he commented.
