Bundle up! CDMX activates yellow alert due to low temperatures in five municipalities

Winter Solstice 2025

Climate changes coincide with the arrival of winter. On Sunday, December 21 at 9:03 a.m. the Winter Solstice 2025 will occur, reported the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

“This astronomical event marks the official start of winter in the northern hemisphere and the day with the fewest hours of sunlight of the year for Mexico City and much of the country,” he explained.

With the arrival of the coldest season of the year, the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection of Mexico City issued several recommendations.

He asked the inhabitants, especially those of the five municipalities on yellow alert, to dress appropriately and cover their nose and mouth.

He also recommended protecting pets from the cold and avoiding sudden changes in temperature. As well as eating plenty of water, fruits and vegetables with vitamins A and C.
