Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation entered 2,300,000 dollars in 2025

The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation recognizes that it receives between 10% and 20% of the payment of each athlete hired abroad.

LIMA, Peru – The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS) received around $2,300,000 in 2025, mainly for renting talent to other countries. Even so, baseball on the Island is experiencing a moment of shortcomings and challenges, a core issue in the current Balance Assembly of the organization.

Data from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) in Cuba, shared by the country’s state press, recognize that the FCBS receives between 10% and 20% for each athlete hired abroad.

According to the sports authorities of the Cuban regime, this is not a percentage that is deducted from the players’ salaries but rather a figure that the club pays separately from the income earned by each athlete.

“For example, if a player is paid $500,000, the club has to pay the agreed percentage of that figure to the Cuban Baseball Federation, but without touching the athlete’s $500,000,” he clarifies. Cubadebate.

INDER assures that the almost 2,300,000 dollars are used in expenses related to national sports in Cuba. The Institute reported a list of alleged investments among which stand out: $565,256 in the locker room of the Elite League and the National Series this year; $297,619 in the purchase of balls for all categories; and $536,900 in the purchase of air tickets and other supplies necessary for trips to the 17 international events that took place during 2025.

In addition, the report justified that there are other expenses not yet executed, which would be destined to the purchase of a complete set of lighting for four stadiums in the country, other sports equipment, gyms, batting cages, pitching machines, plus “the contribution that has been made as a collaboration with other sports less economically benefited”.

In contrast, the annual FCBS Balance Assembly that meets from the day before until this Saturday in the Adolfo Luque Hall, of the Latin American Stadium, speaks of an unfavorable panorama in Cuban baseball.

Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, president of the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation, spoke about the work of the provinces at the base, where the talents emerge that will later integrate the provincial and national teams.

“These territories need to repair their baseball facilities, develop the competitive calendar for all categories and rescue the local sports industry to have a greater number of bats, gloves and other implements,” he said in statements collected by the specialized media. HIT.

The manager highlighted the need for the 16 existing baseball academies on the Island to leave the main stadiums, whose grounds deteriorate with so much use for training.

Furthermore, Pérez Pardo recognized that the number of baseball professionals in Cuba is decreasing and solutions must be sought to stop this trend, citing the urgency of improving mass participation.
