Porto (Portugal) announced this Saturday (20) the signing of Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, who agreed to leave Fluminense last week. The 41-year-old player has signed with the Portuguese team until the end of the European season in June 2026.

This is not Thiago Silva’s first experience in Porto. In the 2004/2005 season he played for the Dragões B team. The player has already stated, in an interview, that he still dreams of being called up to defend Brazil in the 2026 World Cup.
“I’m here to announce my return to the Dragons and say how happy and flattered I am for this opportunity. I’m super motivated, I hope I can help in the best way possible”, declared the defender, who has played for teams such as Milan (Italy), PSG (France) and Chelsea (England).
Departure from Fluminense
Last Wednesday (17) Fluminense announced the departure of Thiago Silva. According to a statement from Tricolor das Laranjeiras, the player formalized “his contractual termination with the club”.
Fluminense FC informs that defender Thiago Silva formalized, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (16/12), at CT Carlos Castilho, his contract termination with the club.

“Graduated in the Tricolor youth categories, Thiago ends his second spell with the Fluminense professional team. Champion of the 2007 Copa do Brasil, the captain has played 212 games and scored 19 goals wearing the Tricolor armor”, stated the Fluminense statement.
