The Fire Department and Civil Defense of the state of São Paulo confirmed the eighth death resulting from the rains since October in the state of São Paulo, the third related to Tuesday’s storm (16).
The victim, a man living in Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo, had his body found in the Tietê River near the bridge that gives access to a highway.
He was in a white Fiorino model vehicle, swept away by floodwaters. Firefighters located the car on the same day, on Rua do Armazém, but without the occupant.
Relatives of the victim, whose identity was preserved, recognized the body this Friday (19), but did not inform about a wake or burial.
