Between January and October 2025, oil production fell 3.7% and gas production fell 19.9%, according to the ANH.
The oil and gas production in Colombia continued its downward trend during 2025despite the fact that the activity of drills showed a slight rebound in the last months of the year.
This is stated in the most recent report of the Colombian Chamber of Oil, Gas and Energy Goods and Services (Campetrol)prepared based on official figures from the National Hydrocarbon Agency (ANH).
According to the union’s balance, between January and October 2025 the average production of oil fell 3.7% compared to the period average 2023–2024while that of natural gas recorded an even sharper decline in 19.9%.
Oil production
In October 2025the average daily audited oil production was located at 736.3 thousand barrels per day (KBPD)which represented a reduction in 3.7% compared to the same month of 2024 and 2.0% compared to September of this year.
The fall was marked mainly by the behavior of the department of Meta. According to the report, in that region production went from 438.2 KBPD to 421.0 KBPDa reduction of 3.9%.
The largest decreases were recorded in the Akacias fieldwhere production fell 28.6%and in the Rubiales fieldwith a decrease in 5.4%. To this they added blockades, demonstrations and protests in municipalities such as Acacías and Guamal, as well as on the road that connects the Rubiales field with Puerto Gaitanaffecting operational continuity.

In the accumulated first ten months of the yearthe average audited oil production stood at 746.6 KBPDwhich is equivalent to a negative variation of the 3.8% compared to the same period in 2024 and a drop in 3.7% compared to the 2023–2024 average, which was 774.9 KBPD.
Natural gas production
The behavior of natural gas It was also descending. In October, the marketed production was 798.0 million cubic feet per day (MPCD)with a decrease in 13.6% compared to October 2024 and 2.0% compared to September.
Between January and October, the average was 807.5 MPCDwhich represented a reduction in 19.9% compared to the period average 2023–2024.
This lower level of production occurs in a context of increase in consumer prices. As of November 2025, the price of home gas accumulated an increase of 11.45%according to figures from the Dannywith the largest variations recorded in Tunja, Riohacha and Bogotá.
drilling activity
In contrast to the drop in production, the drilling activity showed slight growth. In November they registered 111 active teams in the country, which meant an increase in 6.7% compared to the same month of 2024.
Between January and November, the average was 110 drillswith an annual growth of 2.9%. Of the teams active in November, 30 were intended for drilling —one of them in operations offshore– and 81 to work of reconditioning.
Campetrol projects that the year will close with 110 active drills and that the activity is maintained stable during the first months of 2026.

For the executive president of Campetrol, Nelson Castanedathe results reflect the difficulties faced by the sector. “The behavior observed in oil and gas production during 2025 reflects the operational challenges that the sector faces and the importance of having conditions that allow hold and stabilize productive levels,” he noted.
Castañeda added that the union insists on the need to “preserve continuity of operationsstrengthen the operational security in the territories and promote an environment that contributes to regional development already energy sovereignty of the country.”
