Congressman Jaime Quito demands that the eighth agreement between Sedapar and Cerro Verde be made public

In his week of representation, Congressman Jaime Quito demanded that the Sedapar company make public the eighth agreement that will be signed with Cerro Verde for the treatment of wastewater at the La Enlozada WWTP.

The parliamentarian requested, by letter, from the company information about the agreement that will be signed in Lima, after presentation by Sedapar officials, however, the response that was given unleashed the annoyance of the congressman, “We do not know specifically what is being signed”he pointed out.

ORDER DETAILS

On December 16, in response to the request for information, the general manager of Sedapar, Janet Montoya, responded that, “The signing of the agreement is in process, with the parties developing the corresponding actions for its completion. In this sense, once the document has been concluded and duly signed by the parties involved, it will be made known in a timely manner.”.

Quito rejected this lack of transparency, “We need to know what they are agreeing to”he pointed out. He added that the technical proposal supported by the study commissioned by Sedapar to the German Cooperation (GIZ) in 2016, updated in 2023, which determined the alternative cost of treated water from the La Enlozada WWTP at $3.63 per cubic meter.
