SEP launches plan to improve access to initial education

SEP launches plan to improve access to initial education

The country’s state educational authorities and the Secretary of Education, Mario Delgado, signed the plan to guarantee education and care services to all children under 6 years of age.

“It is important that we already have an implementation strategy; with this we are moving forward to guarantee coordination that allows the comprehensive development of girls and boys,” declared Delgado.

Currently, only 3.8% of children from 0 to 2 years old are served in initial education, while only 63.6% of children from 3 to 5 years old were enrolled in preschool in the 2024-2025 cycle.

The SEP plan consists of eight points to improve these figures through greater coordination between the different state education departments and the institutions that offer initial education.

The strategy establishes that Early Childhood and Preschool Education Centers must provide essential care, health, nutrition, protection and cultural services; improve educational materials, training and pedagogical development of teachers.

As well as launch awareness campaigns that promote the importance of preschool education.
