Osiris de León asegura que Oakhouse no es un vertedero, sino una planta industrial de reciclaje

Santo Domingo.– The geologist Osiris of Leon assured that Oakhousethe project that will be installed in Cubait is not a landfill or a source of pollution, but a modern industrial plant dedicated to the recovery of solid waste. He noted that his operations will be completely indoors and managed by specialized personnel, which, he said, rules out any risk associated with traditional landfills.

De León explained that the plant is designed to process materials such as glass, plastic, paper, cardboard, metals and organic wastetransforming them into products with commercial value. He stated that the project seeks generate economic and social benefits without affecting the environment and which, furthermore, marks the beginning of a future industrial free zone designed to boost local development under strict environmental standards.

The specialist highlighted that, by operating indoors, the project avoids the production of contaminating liquidswhich usually form when rain comes into contact with exposed waste. He stressed that this characteristic eliminates the risk of affecting the soil, subsoil or nearby bodies of water.

Land with favorable characteristics

In his technical evaluation, De León pointed out that the area where the plant will be installed is made up of basaltic volcanic rocksa naturally waterproof material that prevents leaks. He indicated that the selection of the land was due to technical criteria and previous studiesnot to improvised decisions.

The infrastructure also includes perimeter drains to manage rain runoff and four environmental monitoring wells located at the cardinal points around the plant. These wells may be supervised by authorities, independent entities and the communityto verify the state of groundwater.

Project supported by science

De León described Oakhouse as an industry model based on scientific evidence, preventive engineering and constant supervision. He stated that the transparency of the project and its openness to scrutiny seek to assure the community that the operation will be safe and controlled.

When a project is explained on a scientific basis and made available for verification, trust becomes a technical conclusion, not an act of faith.“said the geologist.
