After the singer Matamba denounced on Wednesday night that he had suffered discrimination at the Brasargent Rodizio & Churrasquería restaurant in Santa Cruz, the business was fined and must pay 10,000 Housing Development Units (UFV).

The sanction was arranged by the Vice Ministry of Consumer Protection, according to its officials.

According to information from the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), to date each UFV has a value of 2,377 bolivianos, so the amount to be paid amounts to 23,776 bolivianos, which must be paid within a period of up to 10 days.

The information was provided by the state officials themselves who arrived at the shopping center where said company is located, who justified the sanction by adhering to current regulations, according to El Deber.

The sanction comes hours after the artist Juan Carlos Chiorino, whose artistic name is Matamba, denounced the incident before the offices of the Santa Cruz Prosecutor’s Office.

Through a video that he posted on his Instagram account, the artist reported that he went to that restaurant to celebrate the birthday of two of his brothers. When he was inside the establishment, one of the waiters approached him to tell him that he could not be “like this” in the place.

The artist said that he asked the employee what he was referring to and the worker replied: “I can see your shoulders.” The singer was wearing a tank top from a basketball team.

Around noon, Matamba approached the Prosecutor’s Office to file a formal complaint about what happened.

The artist maintained that his intention is not to hurt anyone, but to prevent situations like last night from happening again.

In this regard, the Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, suggested that the Vice Minister of Decolonization and Depatriarchalization, Pelagio Condori, take “hands on the matter.”
