Minedu separated more than 600 teachers and administrators in 2025

In 2025, the Ministry of Education (Minedu) dismissed 664 teachers and administrators (568 teachers and 96 administrators) convicted or prosecuted for serious crimes, in order to guarantee safe school environments nationwide.

Of them, 603 came from public institutions and 61 from private institutions; 91 received final separation after final sentences (68 teachers and 23 administrators).

The most common crime was rape and sexual indemnity (66 cases), followed by terrorism, pimping, child pornography, intentional homicide and drug trafficking.

Furthermore, it was ordered the preventive separation of 573 people (500 teachers and 73 administrative staff) with ongoing judicial processes for sexual rape, terrorism, homicide, human trafficking, kidnapping and propositions to minors via digital means.

Minister Jorge Figueroa Guzmán emphasized the inflexible position of the sector: “Our priority is to protect students and ensure safe schools. We will not allow people with serious crimes to remain in the education system.”
