He National Election Jury began the signing of the Ethical Pact between political groups. Of the 38 political groups that participated in the elections, only 23 signed the document.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the 10 agreements with which they will work and to which the different organizations have committed to comply were announced:
- Environment and Participation: Contribute to a peaceful and transparent environment during the electoral process and commit its members and supporters to exercise their participation in an informed, respectful, tolerant and non-violent manner.
- Compliance with Results: Respect the official electoral results as an expression of the citizen’s will and exercise their rights through legal channels with respect, good faith and decent support.
- Vulnerable Groups: Incorporate into your programmatic proposals the needs of populations in vulnerable situations, such as people with disabilities, girls, boys and adolescents, among others.
- Financial Transparency and Use of Resources: Verify and present clear and timely information on the use of public goods, as well as campaign income and expenses, ensuring their legality. Establish internal mechanisms to prevent, detect and report the improper use or exploitation of public goods and positions, direct public financing, or the use of illicit contributions.
- Digital and Media Responsibility: Promote the ethical and responsible use of the media, social networks and artificial intelligence. Avoid the dissemination of false or manipulated news, in accordance with the campaign conduct guidelines on social networks that are part of the pact.
- Fight against Discrimination: Eradicate any form of discrimination and political violence based on gender, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, age, origin, religion or any other reason, as well as all actions of political harassment or practices that violate the dignity of people.
- Debate and Proposals: Present your government plan, parliamentary agenda and main proposals, actively participating in debates organized by the JNE and responding with technical foundation and viable proposals to contribute to an informed vote and social peace.
The parties also committed to withdraw all their electoral propaganda within 45 days after the conclusion of the elections and to appeal to the Court of Honor of the Electoral Ethical Pact, abiding by and respecting its decisions as the body in charge of supervising compliance with the commitments.
