Mexico City.– The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, announced that vehicle theft was reduced by 38 percent and extortion by 36 percent in the State of Mexico, from January to November 2025, during her participation in the Interstate Coordination meeting against Vehicle Theft, headed by the governors and representatives of Morelos, Mexico City, Guerrero, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Puebla.
“It is important to establish that it is first thanks to the coordination that exists between the three levels of Government, starting with our President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who has made a great effort. Second, the coordination that exists with our colleagues who have the Peace Table,” indicated Teacher Delfina Gómez.
Furthermore, in the meeting in which the state secretariats and prosecutors participated, the State of Mexico was recognized for the actions it implements to inhibit the crime of extortion, which has registered a decrease of 36 percent, thanks to operations in prisons and the implementation of the National Strategy.
According to official figures from the State Prosecutor’s Office, a positive result was also achieved with the crime of cargo transportation theft, with a decrease of 20 percent in the entity.
In that sense, they highlighted Operation Senda, which deployed federal and state forces on roads and highways in 46 Mexican municipalities, the results of which were 68 detainees and 137 properties secured.
The governors announced that by 2026, the Interstate Coordination Meeting will analyze progress on extortion, as well as strengthening the reviews of Penitentiary Centers and the operation of electromagnetic signal inhibitors in said prisons.
Likewise, Governor Delfina Gómez highlighted that in the Peace Roundtables that she leads daily, the Judicial Branch of the entity was incorporated, which has made it possible to advance in judicial proceedings and in the fight against illicit acts.
Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary General of the Government of the State of Mexico, participated in the Interstate Coordination Meeting; Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, head of State Security; José Luis Cervantes Martínez, Prosecutor of the State of Mexico, as well as federal security authorities and prosecutors of the entities.
