Internacional de Porto Alegre, one of the most traditional clubs in Brazil, announced this Thursday the hiring of the Uruguayan Paulo Pezzolano as the new first team coach.
Pezzolano, 42 years old and who in the past managed the Mexican Pachuca, the Spanish Real Valladolid and the English Watford, signed a contract with the Porto Alegre team for one season, that is, until the end of 2026.
A native of Montevideo, he will replace Abel Braga, who took the reins of the Colorado bench in the final stretch of last season and managed to save the team from relegation to the second division of the Brazilian Championship.
He was already in Brazil with Ronaldo
This will be Pezzolano’s second experience in Brazil, since He already commanded Cruzeiro between 2022 and 2023when the celestial club was under the management of the former striker and businessman Ronaldo Nazário.
Roller coaster in Valladolid
Then he made the jump to Real Valladolidwhich was then also controlled by Ronaldo and with which he dropped to the second division, although he returned it to the elite of Spanish football just one season later.
In May of this year he signed for Watford, in the silver division of English football, but was fired last October after just a dozen games.
Inter highlighted that Pezzolano, who began his career as a coach with the Uruguayans Touch and Liverpoolhas accumulated extensive experience abroad and wished him luck facing the challenges of the next season, which will begin in January.
