The Bolivian Foreign Ministry removed Mario Cronenbold from the embassy in Paraguay on Monday for the incident that arose from the publication of a controversial video on TikTok.
The Bolivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement in which it accounts for that decision after receiving a report from the now former ambassador, who after presenting his credentials as Bolivian representative in Paraguay, posted a video on his personal account on that network in which he jokingly refers to the tereré and the Guaraní language.
This fact caused the annoyance of Paraguayan politicians and citizens, who demanded his expulsion despite apologizing and erasing the controversial audiovisual.

“In relation to the diplomatic inconvenience produced by Ambassador Mario Cronembold Aponte in the Republic of Paraguay, we inform the public that the diplomatic representative was summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to establish himself in the city of La Paz in immediately “, reports the Foreign Ministry.
“After receiving the report and evaluating the circumstances, Ambassador Cronembold was dismissed from his duties on November 1, 2021,” added in the statement published this Wednesday, hours after, by unanimous vote, the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay declared Cronenbold persona non grata
The motion of censure was approved in this Wednesday’s session, informed Digital Page Seven the president of the Foreign Relations Commission of this instance, Walter Harms.

“After the arguments of some colleagues and before my motion, the draft declaration was approved unanimously by the Chamber of Deputies. The Chamber of Deputies repudiates the expressions made by Ambassador Mario Cronenbold, in a tone of offense and aggression against our culture, ”said Harms, in contact with this medium.
For the Bolivian Foreign Ministry, “the incident that occurred does not affect diplomatic relations between the Plurinational State of Bolivia and the Republic of Paraguay, which are currently at their highest level, with the expectation of holding the Presidential Encounter and II Cabinet Meeting Bolivia-Paraguay Binational Ministerial, for the 2022 management “.
