The former minister Mariano Gonzalez He put an end to his militancy and candidacy for the Senate of the Republic after resigning from the political party Let’s Save Peru.
Through a statement addressed to the president of the party, Guillermo Suárez Flores, he indicated that the reasons for his resignation are “very serious events that occurred recently.”
He indicated that, apart from “political agreements that were not fulfilled by the presidency and the general secretary of the party,” the reason that led him to make the decision was the meeting held between a presidential candidate and a member of the National Election Jury.
“In this regard, neither the party nor the JNE have initiated an investigation or held any demonstration; on the contrary, there is a worrying silence,” he noted in his statement.
He also indicated that it was known that a person close to the same JNE who participated in the aforementioned meeting would be “managing before the party leadership the participation of people linked to a party banned by judicial order of the Supreme Court of the Republic.”
In that sense, he requested that the party process his resignation before the Registry of Political Organizations of the JNE.
