The District of Bogotá reinforced control on the city’s roads. Through your Mobility Secretariat incorporated 11 solar panels that detect the speed of all vehicles.
These devices were installed in four road corridors with the objective of controlling the excess speed of vehicles that circulate on the main avenues of the country’s capital.
The panels were located in strategic corridors such as the NQSthe El Dorado Avenue and the North Highwaykey points of Bogotá traffic.
According to the Ministry of Mobility, these devices they do not generate summonses. Its main function is inform and alert drivers when they exceed the limit of 50 kilometers per hour in the main corridors.
In this sense, the panels – which work with solar energy— show on their board the vehicle license plate and the speed at which it circulates.

When the driver exceeds the permitted limit, the system emits a visual signal with a red faceindicating that you should reduce speed. Once the vehicle drops below 50 km/h, the signal changes to a yellow face.
“We seek that with the support of technology and pedagogy we will be able to deter and generate better behavior on the part of drivers regarding the speed limit.“said the Secretary of Mobility, Claudia Diaz.
Additionally, the devices will be monitored by mobility expertswho will monitor the behavior of drivers during their journeys along the city’s main roads.
