Artisanal miners from Atico Callpa and Calpa Renace, after holding a coordination meeting yesterday Tuesday afternoon, took the Panamericana Sur highway in the early hours of Wednesday, December 17, in the district of Chala, in the province of Caravelí.

According to the report of the National Policethere are around 250 people who have taken the national road, preventing vehicle traffic.
The informal miners argue that the measure is to pressure the Congress of the Republic approve the mining formalization process in a second vote. It turned out that the measure will be extended until December 19.
At this time, a large number of stranded vehicles can already be seen in both directions, especially heavy-duty trucks and interprovincial passenger transport buses.
