Primary Health Care Network advances and perspectives in Cerro Largo

DIVERSITY AND HORMONIZATION POLYCLINIC
“Sexually Transmitted Diseases, particularly Syphilis, have had an exponential increase throughout the country. We are also affected by that reality, therefore we redefined and tried to have a multidisciplinary team carry out this approach with the new guidelines that the MSP has defined to have a better scope and efficiency to be able to reverse these data” said Ms. Vázquez.
Another focus was on achieving an improvement in care at the Diversity and Hormonization Polyclinic, a service that already existed, but was fragmented. “We managed to get a multidisciplinary team to care for this population together” reported.

TELEMEDICINE WAS RESUMED
“We implemented Telemedicine in our Execution Unit. The equipment was there, but it was not in operation in coordination. For several months now we have been having consultations with an Infectologist and Pediatric Endocrinologist, which are specialties that do not exist in our environment and that at First Level are essential” highlighted the Director of the RAP.
He also reported that the development of the network of neighborhood polyclinics is being targeted so that users can consult at the polyclinic in their neighborhood and that care is provided in adequate conditions and with resolution.
“100% of the medical guards in Fraile Muerto were covered” he stated. “When we started the administration we had difficulties in covering them because they were guards and there were not enough Resident Doctors. We managed to transform those positions into internal guards and now we are able to cover 100%” said Vazquez.
RESIDENT DOCTORS
The calls were made and the calls for rural Resident Doctors for Laguna Merín, Plácido Rosas and Arévalo are in the process of being opened, with a basic team in the territory: General Medicine, Nursing Assistant and Graduate in Nursing.
