The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected as grotesque the threat made by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to block Venezuelan oil trade and announced that it will denounce this illegal action before international bodies.
In an official statement, the Venezuelan government denounces that the action of the American ruler violates International Law, free trade and free navigability, which constitutes a serious threat against a sovereign nation.
The text rejects that Trump “assumes that Venezuela’s oil, land and mining wealth are his property. And consequently, Venezuela must hand over all its wealth immediately,” which is why it intends to impose in an “absolutely irrational manner a supposed naval military blockade on Venezuela.”
In this sense, the national government ratified the unwavering will to assert its sovereignty “over all its natural wealth as well as the right to free navigation, free trade in the Caribbean Sea and the world’s oceans”, so the nation will proceed “in strict accordance with the UN Charter”, to fully exercise its freedom, jurisdiction and sovereignty “above these warlike threats.”
He adds that, immediately, the ambassador to the UN will proceed to denounce this serious violation of International Law against Venezuela.
In direct reference to the American president, the statement rejects the colonialist expression “until all the oil, land, and other assets that were previously stolen from us are returned to the United States,” written by Trump, what it reveals is the real intention to “appropriate the country’s oil, land, and minerals through gigantic campaigns of lies and manipulations.”
The text concludes by indicating that Venezuela will never renounce its independence and freedom, and that it will never again be a colony of any empire. At the same time, he calls on the people of the United States to reject this extravagant threat by all means.
