The Specialized Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes of the State of Nuevo León explained that an arrest warrant was issued against the former president, issued by a Control and Oral Trial Judge of the entity, for his probable participation in events with characteristics of electoral crimes.
“The judicial order was completed by the Special Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes with the operational support of personnel from the State Investigation Agency, in coordination with officers of the Civil Force,” he detailed in a press release.
Popularly known as “El Bronco”, the controversial 64-year-old politician was criminally denounced in 2018 by the then senator and current governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, who accuses him of having allocated public funds to the collection of signatures that endorsed his aspiration. presidential.
He is also accused of having used public employees for this purpose. The authorities did not detail the amounts that would have been diverted.
Rodríguez, with 5% of the vote, ranked fourth in the 2018 presidential elections for which he ran as an independent candidate and was won by Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
