“If it came out to give some certainty or to affirm that there is a plan A, B or C to calm things down, it would be progress, but we don’t see anything in that sense. The fund they are creating will not give the numbers. The emblems speak of raising the price, even though the cost of a barrel of oil is going down”, he questioned.
For the analyst, the price of fuel will drop if the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) is reduced. Therefore, it is only necessary to define how to compensate for the drop in collection that this measure will generate.
“Vice Minister Óscar Orué informed me that if VAT is added to fuel, the price will increase, something that I do not believe. I am sure that if the ISC is eliminated, the price of fuel will decrease. What you have to think about is how to compensate for that drop that we have, ”he said.
He states that Paraguay does not have an energy policy. Something key to be able to deal with this type of situation.
“We talked about the price of fuel going to increase, however, the cost of electricity for ANDE is going to go down. If we thought of an energy fund we could compensate many alternatives and thus we could evaluate ”, he explained.
Finally, he urged the Government to make faster decisions, since, in the face of this crisis, it only remains calm, hoping that events will take care of themselves and that does not work.

Arnaldo Franco, national senator for the ruling party, stated that the fuel problem is not something that only affects our country, but rather constitutes a global crisis. However, he highlights that the Government is focused on finding solutions to mitigate the impact on the local economy.
“We met with the Executive Power, talking about the possibilities of a solution for the citizens. This is a world issue that the political class is obliged to find a solution for the benefit of all citizens”, he stated.

Abdo Benítez, President of the Republic, traveled to Brazil urgently due to oncological problems (derived from cancer), suffered by his mother-in-law Rossana Bo. He will only return today, Wednesday. Due to this situation, he rushed to São Paulo, Brazil on Monday. In his place was Hugo Velázquez, vice president, to lead all the meetings in the search for solutions to the fuel issue.
The demonstrations began on Monday and affect various parts of the country. The force measure is led by truckers, deliveries, taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers and platform drivers (MUV, Bolt and Uber). Along with this, peasant organizations also demonstrate in the capital demanding other points. Both groups could unite to develop a large mobilization in case of not having positive responses from the Government as announced by the deliveries.
