The Police and the Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials This morning they carried out a mega operation against the alleged criminal organization ‘Los Socios del Callao’, which included the search of 27 properties, including the home of the regional governor of Callao, Ciro Castillo.
Although there is an arrest warrant against the governor, Castillo was not found in his home. According to RPP, among those detained are Luis Antonio Blanco Cabrera, who would be a supplier; César Edilberto Huaringa Arango, who is in charge of a warehouse for the Regional Government of Callao; Daniel Jesús Villalobos Sampén, a specialist from the Regional Government of Callao; and, finally, Wilmer Meza Natividad, hiring coordinator.
The Public Ministry considers that the alleged criminal organization would be involved in the crime of aggravated collusion and those investigated would have directed contracts in the Regional Government and the CAFED of Callao, generating damage to the State of S/ 1.4 million.
Lawyer announces appeal
The regional governor’s lawyer announced that they will file an appeal and considered that the court order “is quite vague.”
“The raid is justified because, according to the judge, there is usually documentation in the home of the heads of criminal organizations,” he told the press. Furthermore, he added that the fiscal diligence “has been expressly declared fruitless in the minutes.”
The lawyer pointed out that they only recently learned of the existence of the tax file that involves his client and assured that they have never been notified of its existence. In that sense, he considered that the investigation could not have been formalized
“If there were formalization there could be no preliminary detention,” he said.
