The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. and was reportedly caused by excessive speed and lack of signage. At the scene, Serenazgo agents found a passenger van with license plate W3W-299 and a car with license plate A0W-619 with considerable material damage.

As a result of the impact, Julio Rivadeneira (62), Danusca Limache (20), Herlinda Jáuregui (76) and Maylis Limache (18) suffered multiple injuries, for which they were transferred to the David Guerrero Duarte Health Center to receive medical attention.

Both units were placed at the disposal of the National Police, which began the corresponding procedures to determine responsibilities.
