SANTO DOMINGO.- The deputy director of Navy Intelligence of the Dominican Republic (ARD) was injured by a gunshot during an attempted robbery recorded yesterday in the Santo Domingo Este municipality.
Ship captain (Colonel) Mártires Sierra Montero received a wound in the back when several criminals broke into the place where he was sharing with other people, near Charles de Gaulle Avenue, in said municipality.
According to unofficial reports, the officer, upon noticing the presence of the criminals, took out his firearm, at which time one of the criminals fired several shots, wounding him. Faced with the attack, the soldier responded and wounded two of the attackers.
So far the officer’s health status is unknown, while the National Police has not offered official details about the event.
