With this work, the Golden Gate takes another step in its reconnection with the Magdalena River.
On the banks of the Magdalena Riverwhere the city meets its history and essence, a new moon rises above the horizon. With 65 meters highthe River Moon rises in the Great Malecón as a symbol of movement, encounter and transformation, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Barranquilla.
Barranquilla experienced a new milestone in its urban transformation with the official opening of the River Moonthe largest ferris wheel in Colombia and one of the largest Latin Americawhich from the Gran Malecón is consolidated as a new tourist, cultural and economic icon of the city.
With this work, the Golden Gate takes another step in its reconnection with the Magdalena River and strengthens a new way of living the city: Barranquilla seen from the heightsin a 360° experience that integrates nature, public space and urban development.

During the opening, the mayor Alejandro Char He highlighted that this project represents much more than a tourist attraction and defined it as an economic engine for the city. He pointed out that entertainment, sports and urban experiences are today key factors to attract visitors, energize the gastronomyhe trade and strengthen the tourism local.
The River Moon It is integrated into the Gran Malecón as a unique experience in Colombia, consolidating tourism as a strategic axis of the economic development of Barranquilla. Projections indicate that the attraction could attract among 150,000 and 200,000 visitors per year.
This impact translates into a boost to employmenthe local entrepreneurship and the activation of value chains that include transport, gastronomy, hospitality, commerce and creative industries. Currently, these sectors generate close to 200,000 jobs in Barranquilla and its metropolitan area.
With this work, the city expands its tourist offer and reinforces its position as destination for great urban experiences in Latin America.

Located in an approximate area of 20,000 square metersthe Luna del Río is consolidated as an architectural and landscape landmark around which commerce, complementary attractions, public space and green areas will be articulated. The complementary works of the project included an investment greater than the $7 billion for the construction of the park, boulevards and surrounding green areas.
The structure of the ferris wheel weighs 240 tons and its construction was carried out by Fabbri Parkan Italian company recognized as a world leader in mechanical attractions. The company trained local engineers so that the assembly and labor were developed by talent from the region.
