The Government of Venezuela expressed this Sunday its gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran, since the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that Persian nation, Esmaeil Baqaei, expressed his firm and clear condemnation of the recent act of piracy perpetrated by the United States Army against a merchant ship loaded with Venezuelan oil in the Caribbean Sea.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, extended words of gratitude to the Persian nation for its firm rejection to the action committed by Washington, which has been described by Caracas as a vulgar act of piracy.
“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we extend a Bolivarian greeting to Iran and express our gratitude for its firm rejection of the assault perpetrated by the United States Army against a merchant ship loaded with Venezuelan oil, under orders of the current US administration,” Gil wrote on his Telegram channel.
The Venezuelan diplomat stressed that with this statement, Iran ratified what has been denounced from Caracas: “The United States has neither the right nor the jurisdiction to invoke its internal laws and its illegal blockades against the trade and economies of other countries to justify acts of piracy and extrajudicial executions in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.”
Last Thursday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmaeil Baqaei, condemned the theft of an oil tanker in the Caribbean by the United States, calling this action a clear example of “state maritime piracy.”
Likewise, he warned about the repercussions that it would have for peace, security and international trade if the US continues with this coercive behavior.
In this regard, the spokesperson added that all governments and competent international organizations have the responsibility to oppose these illegal actions and hold the Trump Administration accountable.
