Against fatigue and the weather
The overcast sky, a preamble to the rain that fell on the city on Saturday afternoon, was not an obstacle to the closing of the event that had begun the day before with the much-loved skills tests.
The contestants in the queen event set out to cover the 42 kilometers drawn on a circuit laid out by the emblematic Havana Malecón, with greater luck for the local Ernesto Santiago, who covered the distance in 1:20.59 hours.

According to him report of Hit, Behind him, his countrymen David Quintero (1:36.07) and Alessandro Piñeiro (1:36.31) crossed the finish line, with times far from those achieved by the winner.
The women’s version was a little closer, because the advantage that Amanda García from Havana managed to gain (1:42.05) was much less than her escorts on the podium, Myleen Muñoz from Matanzas (1:43.03) and Melany Andreu from Cienfuegos (1:44.40).

Beyond the competitive level, marked by the absence of great figures, the greatest result of the new edition of the Havana Skate Marathon was for the organizers the possibility of verifying the drawing power that the event retains.
“We were afraid that a high level of participation would not be achieved, that it would not motivate, but it was demonstrated that Havana Skate is from Cuba,” Tony García, president of the organizing committee of the competition, told the media.
