The Judiciary scheduled the hearing for Monday, December 15, in which it will evaluate the tax request to lift the secrecy of communications related to cell phones of Andrés Hurtado ‘Chibolín’ and the suspended prosecutor Luz Elizabeth Peralta Santur, investigated for alleged crimes of influence peddling and specific active bribery to the detriment of the State.
The evaluation hearing will be held within the framework of the preparatory investigation being carried out before the Second Transitory Supreme Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes committed by Public Officials, which seeks to determine whether there were communications that could provide evidence linked to the alleged plot of influences and favors.
The lifting of the secrecy of communications is a key measure so that the Prosecutor’s Office can access the data and history of calls and messages that are on the devices of those investigated.
This request seeks to expand the powers of tax investigation, after previous measures that already allowed the authorization of the lifting of the banking, tax and stock market secrecy of Hurtado and Peralta, as well as of others involved, with the aim of clarifying possible financial movements related to the facts investigated.
Andrés Hurtado, former television presenter, continues to be held in the Lurigancho prison, serving 18 months of preventive detention for his alleged participation in an influence peddling network that would have involved businessman Javier Miu Lei and former prosecutor Peralta, who remains under arrest with restrictions imposed by the Judiciary.
The case has remained at the center of public and judicial attention since 2024, after the dissemination of complaints and audios that link Hurtado and Peralta with alleged illicit arrangements to influence judicial decisions and obtain undue benefits. The decision adopted by the Judiciary next Monday will be decisive for the following phases of the investigative process.
