JAD celebrates 41 years of commitment to the agricultural sector

The Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) celebrates its 41st anniversary highlighting an institutional career marked by decisive contributions to the development of the agricultural sector and for consolidating itself as the entity that brings together the largest number of producers throughout the country.

The institution highlights that throughout these four decades, it has not only strengthened its broad national representation, but has managed to unite all the productive sectors of Dominican agriculture, articulating joint solutions, promoting public policies and contributing to the sustainable growth of the country.

In a statement, he cited among his main achievements the participation of more than 4,000 national and international experts through his Technical Assistance Program Direct, the installation of the most modern Agricultural Laboratory Service of the country and the creation of the Products Exchange to facilitate the marketing of food goods and merchandise.

Likewise, he launched the Fondagro microcredit fund and the Agribusiness Innovation and Information Center (Ciiagro).

He indicated that another relevant milestone is the creation of Agroalimentaria, the only International Food, Tobacco and Beverage Fair in the country, which has held nine editions and has received more than 6,000 foreign buyers and investors.

Reforestation Program

In environmental matters, the JAD keeps his Agrobusiness Reforestation Programthrough which more than 30,000 forest tasks have been planted.

The organization has also established itself as a national reference in the dialogue of public policies linked to agriculture, working on proposals in areas such as credit, land titling, health and safety, innovation and technologyrural infrastructure, exports, natural resources, climate change, institutional and fiscal reform, as well as associativity and internal markets.

He highlights that in these 41 years, “it has administered more than 80 million dollars from international organizations and local agencies destined for agricultural development.”

The institution also reaffirmed its vision aimed at productivity, competitiveness and the transformation of producers into true agribusinessmen, under the leadership of its Board of Directors, chaired by Robert Serranoand its executive president, Osmar C. Benitez.
