Santo Domingo.- A judge from the Santiago Permanent Attention Office imposed a measure of coercion on four men accused of being part of an international drug trafficking network.
During an operation carried out at the Santiago International Airport, the group seized 60 packages of marijuana. The case was declared complex.
The magistrate handed down 18 months of preventive detention as a measure of coercion to Harrison Antonio Paulino and Sequiel Segura Alcántara, the latter a sergeant of the Army of the Republic and assigned to the monitoring, inspection and security area of the Cibao International Airport.
While the defendants Ramón Antonio Rodríguez and Ronaldo Rodríguez Durán were ordered to pay a financial guarantee of one million pesos through an insurance company, in addition to being prevented from leaving and periodically reporting.
The group accused in the drug trafficking network, from whom 60 packages of marijuana, a firearm and cash were seized during a raid on the Green Thomas Residential, in the Villa María sector, El Rosal, in June of this year.
In the apartment that served as a drug collection and packaging center, the authorities located five suitcases where they found the packages of the vegetable, wrapped in black plastic covers, with a preliminary weight of 61.1 pounds.
In this case, registered in June 2025, several people are in prison, including Víctor Founder, identified as the leader of the international drug trafficking structure.
According to the investigation, the network recruited people to bring marijuana from the United States through airports, and then distribute it in different provinces of the Cibao region.
The Public Ministry accuses the group of violations of the Drug Law, association of criminals and other crimes.
