He National Election Jury (JNE) established that the Special Electoral Juries (JEE) in charge of registering presidential formulas and candidacies for the Senate, Chamber of Deputies and Andean Parliament, also have jurisdiction to process the withdrawals and resignations of said nominations.
The measure was made official through Resolution No. 0715-2025-JNE, published this Thursday in the Official Gazette El Peruano. The document specifies that the JEE has the power to receive and rate applications for registration of formulas and lists of candidates, as well as to process resignations and withdrawals that are presented within the framework of the General Elections 2026.
In the case of presidential formulas, the competence of the Special Electoral Jury of Lima Center 1 to receive and process the resignation and withdrawal files of candidates is ratified. Likewise, it is established that the same rule will apply to the candidacies of senators, deputies and representatives before the Andean Parliament.
In this way, the JNE specifies that the JEE competent to register a candidacy will also be in charge of processing any eventual resignations or withdrawals linked to that nomination, regardless of whether they are presidential formulas or parliamentary lists.
Finally, the rule states that, in the case of the election by multiple electoral district of senators and deputies, the Special Electoral Jury of Huancayo will exercise jurisdiction over the department of Junín.
