Edesur reports power outage will impact several sectors of the DN

Dominican Edesur announced this Thursday that a temporary interruption of the electrical service in six circuits of the National District, due to network and infrastructure adaptation works carried out in the Paradise substation.

The suspensionwhich will extend approximately from 9:00 in the morning until 1:00 in the afternoon, will affect sectors such as the Paraíso, Piantini, Serrallés, La Fé, Antares del Caribe, Arroyo Hondo Viejo (partial), Galá, Los Caminos and Residencial Arroyo expansions.

The company also reported in a release that a planned second interruption of supply next December 19.

The works are part of the improvement program that Edesur develops in the Paradise substationwith the purpose of making the service more efficient, reducing technical losses and minimizing overload risks during the summer. The intervention exceeds RD$10.9 million and will impact more than 40,000 clients of 14 sectors of the National District.

As part of the project, a second transformation field of 50MVA —which will raise the installed power to 100 MVA— and two new departures medium voltage (PARA107 and PARA108), in addition to the installation of new networks and the rerouting of existing sections to increase the resilience of the system.

Intensive plan

Edesur indicated that the adjustments will allow strengthening the operational interconnection in the metropolitan system and guarantee a more efficient service for the sectors Urbanización Fernández, Yolanda Morales, Los Jardines, Los Ríos, Villa Marina, El Millón, Reparto Universitario, Las Villas, La Aldaba, La Yuca, La Julia, Ensanche Quisqueya, Bella Vista (northern area) and adjacent areas.

  • The company recalled that these works are part of a intensive plan expansion and improvements in ten infrastructures electricity of the National District and the province of Santo Domingo, as part of its commitment to service stability and operational sustainability.
