The arrival of magistrates to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation through popular vote means democratic legitimation, stated the president of this highest instance, Gilberto Bátiz. “Here none of us work out of inertia, but rather out of principles,” he said. The magistrate was elected in the last extraordinary and unprecedented election on June 1, in which half of the positions of judges, magistrates and ministers that make up the Judicial Branch of the Federation were contested. This Tuesday, the TEPJF awarded seniority recognition to 121 members.
