López Aliaga promises to “transform Peru in six months” and announces the shock of 50 laws

The presidential candidate for Popular Renewal, Rafael Lopez Aliagalaunched a battery of high-impact proposals aimed—as he stated—at structurally transforming Peru within a period of six months.

Accompanied by architect Norma Yarrow, candidate for vice presidency and general secretary of the party, and by Roberto Pizarro, district coordinator, the leader of Renovación Popular also assured that Peru is ready for an “irreversible” change.

“We will change Peru within six months. We have the team to ensure that in less than that time we will recover the tranquility of the country,” he proclaimed in front of his supporters, promising a total reform of the State and an unprecedented offensive against organized crime.

One of López Aliaga’s most forceful announcements was the presentation of a shock of 50 laws that he will send to Congress on July 28, as a matter of confidence.

“If it is not approved, they go home. That is what the popular vote is for,” he warned, in a direct message to Parliament, which he accused of stopping essential reforms.

This legislative package is part of a total reengineering of the state apparatus, the central axis of which is the reduction of 19 ministries to only 6, a measure that – as explained – will allow the construction of a more efficient, austere and results-oriented State. In addition, he proposed a program to purchase resignations to cut the public payroll and allocate the released resources to priority investments.

López Aliaga also announced a reform of the national budget that will divide spending into 50% for investment and 50% for current spending, eliminating unnecessary consulting, advisory services and contracts.

“We are a country with the best figures in South America. What we are experiencing is not fair,” he declared, ensuring that Peru has the economic potential to get out of the crisis if the use of public resources is reconsidered through performance indicators (KPI).

Citizen security

The security plan was another of the pillars of the speech. The candidate announced an unprecedented investment of one billion dollars in police intelligence, aimed at acquiring geolocation equipment, tracking technology, legal listening and tools to dismantle extortion networks.

Among its immediate measures are:

  • Prohibition of sale of chips without authorization.
  • Cut the black market for stolen cell phones.
  • Reinforcement of police presence throughout the country.

In addition, he launched a tough strategy against crime:

  • Faceless judges, with total protection for magistrates and prosecutors.
  • Life sentences for hitmen, extortionists, child rapists and corrupt people.
  • Leaders of urban terrorism sent to work colonies in the jungle.

Expulsion of foreign criminals: “Illegals leave. Peru respects itself. Anyone who comes legally is welcome,” he emphasized.
