The Government expressed its greetings and recognition to María Corina Machado, Venezuelan opposition leader and recent winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, whose award ceremony is scheduled for this Wednesday, December 10 in Oslo, Norway.
Through a statement, President José Jerí pointed out that this recognition highlights the solid commitment of María Corina Machado as a “defender of democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms” in Venezuela.
In that sense, he highlighted his “effort and commitment,” which made possible “the democratic election of the legitimate president” Edmundo Gonzáles Urrutia.
““Peru fully shares the values that inspire her tireless work in favor of freedom,” states the letter sent by the president, who stressed that the example of the Venezuelan opposition leader “constitutes a source of inspiration for all those who believe in the power of dialogue, justice and the popular will as pillars of peaceful coexistence and a democratic future in the region.””the statement reads.
Likewise, Jerí expressed “the great appreciation of the Peruvian people” towards Machado and affirmed that the country accompanies her “with hope and respect” in her fight to build “a free, democratic and peaceful Venezuela.”
“With my best wishes for success in this noble task, I reiterate the feelings of my highest esteem and personal consideration.“, concluded the president’s message.
