The sectoral vice president of Defense and Sovereignty, and Minister of Popular Power for Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López, stated this Monday that Venezuela has responded to external aggression by strengthening a defensive system unique in the world, thanks to the reactivation and massive re-enrollment in the Bolivarian Militia, which represents a direct brake on the hegemonic pretensions of imperialism.
“The departure of the people of Venezuela to join the patriotic ranks was nothing but a message against hegemonism, against imperialism and a resounding message of desire for peace,” stated Padrino López, when he accompanied the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, from the National Room of the Popular Government System, where he took stock of all the communal projects that have been developed in the country.
The Minister stressed that this mobilization is not only symbolic, but operational, aimed at turning the national territory into an impregnable space through positive and popular control of each municipality.
Territorial control for sovereignty
The General in Chief explained that the comprehensive defense strategy has evolved towards the creation of 335 Comprehensive Defense Areas (ADI), one for each municipality in the country, complemented by the Communal Combat Militia Units. He emphasized that this control does not seek to restrict society, but rather to exercise sovereignty and guarantee that the territory is free of transnational threats.
«We are building the impregnability of the national territory and that means occupying the territory. Control is to exercise national sovereignty,” he pointed out.
Likewise, he highlighted the creation of Popular Training Centers, where the Militia unites with the communes to prepare for any attempt at destabilization.
