Q

who answered me The question posed in the last lines of the previous column coincided in a comment: the formulation of the question is tricky. Such a fulminating assertion leads me to repeat to you that innocent but questioned question: “The columneta and TV Azteca are children of the same country? And you?” Well, it turns out that the readers who cared to answer did so angrily, some even got angry: in their opinion, they said to me, “We are offended that you equate us with the television station, are we perverse or stupid?” I confess that the answers inflated me. My next Martini is to your health. But not everything is honey with mart…, sorry, with flakes. See other opinions. Some bots dare to say: “You are probably one of those clerks who receive fees from some government office or juicy stipends from outside” (I haven’t heard the little word stipends in a while, but I like it). I answer: I may be wrong in my opinions, but they are my exclusive responsibility… and free of charge. Now let’s talk about this word of the new project of tasks that the new and very old blue and white party proposes to the citizens (or did they also change their color? Don’t worry, the Pantone color guide is vast and free).

The dictionaries I consulted focus their definition of homeland as follows: place of birth or voluntary adoption. My idea about it is different. I think of the people who were born in one country and migrated to another, in which – between the tough and the mature – they made their lives, learned a strange and difficult language, found a partner, some had children and bring their love for the land in which they were born running permanently through their veins and arteries. This feeling is preserved through years, and even generations. When we say “he has Mexican blood” we are not referring to a scientific and dogmatic belief: the erythrocytes and leukocytes that make up blood cells do not have a range of colors depending on the territory in which one is born or the social class to which one belongs. The poet Felipe Pinglo Alva already postulated it this way in an unforgettable song from the old days: “my blood, although plebeian, also dyes red…” (Of course he failed to add: the blood that reaches the lung and is oxygenated in the arteries is bright red, while the deoxygenated blood is darker red, but who was going to sing this clarification in one of the serenades (or roosters) that have already disappeared?). So if the aristocratic PAN members, like Don Diego de Fernández y Cevallos or Don Santiago de Creel y Miranda, do not like the red color of the mob’s blood, I will give you this free information: in the times that you would like to live in, there was a belief that members of the nobility had blue blood. Cornelius Tacitus (11th century) refers to the emperors with the expression “caeleste sanguine ortam”: born of heavenly blood. These will be the citizens whom the president of the new PAN allowed himself to call to achieve, in 2030, the restoration of the ancien regime

But after so much digression, let’s return to our central theme: what the former partners and now new leaders of National Action say, that one of the three central axes that support their political action is the homeland. And since they do not add any other concept to this noun that allows us to know what they understand by it, we will have to settle for what was said above and that is included in various tumbaburros or dictionaries: birthplace or adoptive place to which someone feels linked by various ties. For the PAN members, then their idea of a homeland can be concretized to a territorial extension that for us is 1 million 964 thousand 375 square kilometers, and that contains the people born in this space and those who voluntarily want to be adopted here. Unless I’m wrong and taking into account your nineteenth-century mentality, you are not referring to this land that we venerate, but to the Celestial Homeland in which, be careful! How about we will all be equal there? In any case, it is undeniable that the intellectual and moral structure of the PAN leadership has been experiencing an undeniable deterioration. In 1939, the founding fathers of that organization proclaimed the reason for their struggle in half a dozen words: “For an Orderly and Generous Homeland.” Then they added: “And A Better and More Dignified Life for All.” This motto also has its points, we will talk about it later, but what is obvious is that the intellectual quotient of the new “hierarchs” follows the path of their votes… downwards.
