The federal government published today (15) in the Official Gazette of the Union decree which extends until December 31, 2022 the validity of agreements and contracts for the transfer of voluntary transfers from the Union to Petrópolis, in the mountain region of Rio de Janeiro.Voluntary transfer contracts to Petrópolis go until December

The decree covers contracts concluded with public entities or private non-profit entities. According to the Ministry of Economy, the measure benefits 34 agreements and contracts totaling around R$ 17 million. In February, the municipality of Petrópolis was hit by heavy rains that left more than 230 dead and hundreds homeless and homeless.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the objective is to help the city hall “in conducting the necessary efforts to face the damage caused by the heavy rains that occurred last February.”

Also according to the ministry, there will be no generation of expenses for the Union, since, in practice, the decree only extends until December 31, the counting of the terms of agreements and contracts that are in the execution or accountability phase. “There is no forecast of new transfers” for these instruments, adds the folder.

The Ministry of Economy considers the extension necessary to give the municipality time to assess which objects of agreements and transfer contracts were impacted by landslides and flooding resulting from the February rains. “This way, the Petrópolis City Hall will be able to focus all its human resources on the work of assisting the population affected by the disaster.”
