VILLA GONZÁLEZ.– The National Police and the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security (DIGESETT) are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday night in the El Limón community, Villa González municipality, Santiago province, where a patrol unit was involved, leaving one person dead and two people injured.
According to preliminary data, the police unit collided with a SUV and a motorcycle that were parked at the location while carrying out prevention work. The institution regretted the incident and expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.
The deceased person was identified as Angel Miguel Santos Espinalwhile Starling Adolfo Martínez Giraldo remains receiving medical care.

The vehicles involved are a Bestune T55 SUV, license plate G734622, a Mazda BT-50 pickup truck number 7518 assigned to the joint Police-ERD patrol, and a Tauro CG motorcycle, license plate K0093583. The drivers of the SUV and motorcycle were unharmed.
The Police and DIGESETT are deepening the investigations to determine the exact causes of the accident.
In parallel, the authorities are investigating the acts of vandalism recorded after the event, when a group of people attacked and damaged the police unit and tried to attack the officers. Until now, 12 people have been arrested for these incidents.
