4 Da Vinci employees ask for coercion by Stephora Anne-Mircie Josep

He Public Ministry This Sunday, he requested the imposition of coercive measures against four members of the Institute Leonardo da Vinci who were arrested for their alleged links to the manslaughter of the girl Stephora Anne-Mircie Joseph11 years old, died in Los Caballos ranchin Gurabo, during an excursion that the educational center took her on.

In a press release, the requested coercion is against Yris del Carmen Reyes Adames, administrative director of the Leonardo da Vinci; Gisela Altagracia de las Mercedes González Estrella, general coordinator and advisor to the management team; Francisca Josefina Tavarez Vélez, counselor, and Vilma Altagracia Vargas Morel, secondary level coordinator.

In the request filed with the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santiago, the prosecution body requests to impose a economic guarantee for an amount of 50 million of pesos to each one, impediment to leaving the country without authorization, periodic presentation and placement of electronic locators.

The charges

The case has received the legal classification of manslaughterwhich constitutes a violation of article 319 of the Penal Code Dominican. Likewise, the classification of abandonment and abuse of children and adolescents was granted, due to behavior typical of the content of article 351-2 of the Penal Code Dominican.

He affirms that the conduct of the accused is also typical of the content of the article 14 of the Law 136-03of the Code for Protection and the Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents.

The girl’s death occurred on November 14 in one of the swimming pools Los Caballos ranchwhere she was taken on an excursion along with 86 other students from the School Leonardo da Vinciwhich is located on the Don Pedro highway, in Santiago de los Caballeros.

MP accusation

He Public Ministry affirms that he has evidence that they mobilized 87 children only with 3 caregiverswithout taking into account the safety measures and the depth of the local pools, without having brought lifeguards, nor asking the parents or guardians if the children knew how to swim or not, in addition to not requiring life jackets.

Likewise, it has been evident in a video that there was extreme negligence with respect to the caregivers who had the obligation to care for Steppfora, as well as the people who were involved in organizing the walk.

He Public Ministry has requested to Ministry of Educationthe realization of a joint inspection of the College Leonardo da Vinciwith the aim of identifying any practice that threatens the best interests of the child.

The investigation of the incident is carried out by the Deputy Attorney General Wilson Camacho and the court attorney Olga Diná Keychainsresponsible for the General Directorate of Prosecution of Public Ministry and of the National Children’s DirectorateGirls, Adolescents and Family (Dinnaf).
