Government, National Mines Agency and miners advance in mining formalization in the south of Bolívar

In the installation of the Work Table for the Construction of the Road Map of Mining Formalization of the South of Bolívarthe Government of Bolívar, together with the National Mining Agency (ANM) and representatives of mining communities, began a process to advance towards legal, sustainable and socially fair mining in the region.

The governor Yamil Arana Padauí He highlighted that this initiative represents an important step to historically address institutional abandonment in the south of the department, seeking to integrate mining formality, environmental protection and social development.

The ANM, led by Lina Francoreaffirmed its commitment to accompany the process with a community focus and highlighted Governor Arana’s leadership in territorial articulation.

The mayors of the south, such as Luis Carlos Valdovino Caro (Monte Cristo) and Milton Olaya Santamaría (Santa Rosa del Sur), supported the process and pointed out the need to confront insecurity, strengthen institutions and guarantee clear conditions for more than 100,000 families that depend directly on mining.

During the meeting, the barriers that have affected formalization in the region were exposed, including the suspension of procedures since 2015, legal uncertainty and lack of community participation.

The mining associations delivered a formal document with specific requests, including lift indefinite suspension of formalization processes, open binding consultation tables and design a differential public policy for the area.

Governor Arana stressed that mining formalization is key to organizing the territory, protecting the environment, reducing illegality and dignifying the work of thousands of families in the South of Bolívar.
