Gleeds, the leading global construction consultancy, has partnered with Thomas Telford Limited, publisher of NEC Contracts, to become the official Delivery Partner for NEC approved training services in Latin America. This constitutes an important step forward to promote collaboration and transparency in the region’s construction sector.
In its role as Delivery Partner, Gleeds will collaborate with NEC Training to provide training services, accreditation courses and consultancy to organizations seeking to adopt and integrate the use of the NEC (New Engineering Contract) range of contracts. This appointment represents another milestone in efforts to facilitate more widespread use of NEC contracts in Latin America.
For a sector that has long dealt with protracted disputes, cost overruns and adversarial client-contractor relationships, NEC Contracts offer an alternative approach to contract management based on collaboration, proactive risk management and mutual trust, encouraging all parties to work together to achieve common project objectives.

NEC Contracts were first introduced in Peru during the 2019 Pan American Games, where they quickly demonstrated clear benefits, such as faster dispute resolution, greater collaboration and transparency in program management. Encouraged by these results, the Peruvian Government expands the adoption of NEC Contracts to important infrastructure programs, such as the Bicentennial Schools and the Reconstruction of Peru.

Gleeds has played a fundamental role in supporting this evolution, as part of the joint ventures that provide technical assistance to the Peruvian Government in these programs. Through formal knowledge transfer and ongoing expert advice, Gleeds has contributed to strengthening local capacity in the use of NEC contracts.
In March 2025, Gleeds was also part of the team responsible for the Spanish translation of the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract, ensuring that the fundamental principles of clarity and simplicity were preserved. With training initiatives, public procurement reforms and the Spanish translation of the NEC4 already completed, the conditions are in place for greater adoption of NEC Contracts in Peru and, potentially, throughout Latin America in the coming years.
